Jason Moore, the director, revealed in an interview with TheWrap that the conclusion features surprising twists that caught the audience off guard.

“During our test screenings, we asked if viewers anticipated these surprises, and an overwhelming 95% said no. It’s gratifying to create a film that holds a few secrets,” he shared.

A Destination Wedding Disrupted

Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel star as Darcy Rivera and Tom Fowler, respectively, who host their families and friends in the Philippines for their wedding celebration.

However, their plans take an unexpected turn when pirates invade the event, transforming a potentially standard ceremony into a chaotic scene filled with stunts and action.

A Colorful Cast of Characters

Among the wedding guests, both expected and unexpected, are Darcy’s divorced parents, Robert and Renata, portrayed by Cheech Marin and Sonia Braga, along with her sister Jamie and Tom’s parents, Larry and Carol.

As the chaos extends, Tom and Darcy find themselves separated in the middle of the pirate attack. Tom returns to the pool where guests are held captive, explaining that Darcy went off in search of cell reception.

Meanwhile, Sean takes some pirates to scour the island via helicopter, bringing Harriet along as leverage. However, Larry Fowler captures evidence of their covert collaboration on his digital camera.

The Climax of Deception

The tension escalates as Sean and Harriet enter the fray, armed with a kayak paddle and a gun. Their plan to overpower the couple backfires dramatically when Tom slides down a parachute rope equipped with custom hair extensions.

This leads to a disastrous scene where the parachute, still attached to Sean, gets caught in the helicopter’s propeller, resulting in a fiery explosion that claims both Sean and Harriet.

Carden reflected on alternative endings, noting, “There exists a version where Lenny Kravitz and I emerge from the chaos bloodied but alive.

We took several pictures in that state, which I might share on social media later.” She mentioned that this scene was likely the most memorable among potential alternate endings.
