All questions are addressed in the film’s tense final act, and should you have lingering inquiries, we’re here to clarify. Let’s examine the conclusion of 10×10 to shed light on its intricacies. Major spoilers follow for one of Netflix’s standout thrillers.

Who is Cathy?

Throughout the film, it seems evident that Robert is fully aware of Cathy’s true identity and is merely awaiting her acknowledgment. After some time, she finally reveals that she is not Cathy; her real name is Natalie, and Cathy was the name of her deceased twin sister.

Natalie’s sister took her own life after their father’s infidelity led him to abandon the family. Being part of a religious community, the shame from their father’s actions resulted in severe repercussions, culminating in her sister’s tragic death.

Consequently, Natalie assumed her sister’s identity, Cathy, committing her life to honoring her memory. (For simplicity, we’ll continue referring to her as Cathy, though she is indeed Natalie.)

What connection does Cathy have to the news reports Robert views throughout the film regarding the Charleston Three? These were three patients who died under mysterious circumstances, leading to a trial for the nurses involved, who were finally exonerated.

It is revealed that Robert’s wife Alana was among the three patients who perished—Cathy was responsible for her death. As part of her dedication to her late sister, Cathy seemingly took on the role of an avenging angel in her nursing career.

Cathy’s Motives and Justifications

Patients confided their deepest secrets to Cathy, and due to her religious upbringing and the shame stemming from her father’s actions, she felt compelled to ensure that these sinners faced consequences for their actions.

The Charleston Three included John Lamptey, who had two wives, Jane Spencer, who deceived the police about her husband’s abuse to gain a financial advantage in her divorce, and Robert’s wife Alana, who was unfaithful without Robert’s knowledge.

“See, the Bible says that we should hold marriage with honor. Your wife was a sinner. Your wife was a whore. She was a sinner. So you tell me, who’s in the wrong? You? Natalie? Or your wife? I did it. I killed her,” Cathy asserts to Robert.

He is skeptical, especially when she insinuates that his daughter Summer might not be his biological child. In an attempt to escape, Cathy seizes Summer as a hostage, but Summer manages to bite her and flee.

The Final Confrontation

As Robert plans to leave with recordings of Cathy’s confessions for the police, she ambushes him in the garage. He knocks her unconscious, and as she collapses, she inadvertently triggers the garage door latch, causing it to slam down upon her.

It remains ambiguous whether she is dead or merely incapacitated, but Robert and his daughter are now out of harm’s way. In the film’s closing moments, Robert expresses his love for his daughter, affirming that she is his child.

A touching conclusion indeed. 10×10 is currently available for streaming on Netflix UK.
