Christian Barbrow, a billionaire and cult leader, has been gathering power and followers throughout the season, culminating in a ritual to summon a terrifying entity. His goal has always been to bring forth “The Eye of God,”.
Through a mix of scientific research, ancient texts, and religious artifacts, he has acquired everything required for the ceremony. He has also constructed a trans-dimensional spaceship meant to transport him and his chosen followers to a newly created version of Earth.

Also, shielding them from the destruction that would follow. What he conveniently fails to reveal is that only 30 individuals from his group will be able to board. Antonio (Javier Bódalo) nearly stops him after locating the quantum supercomputer responsible for transmitting the coordinates to this alternate Earth.
Unfortunately, Antonio and his team arrive too late, allowing Christian to obtain the final piece of information necessary to initiate the world’s destruction. With no hesitation, Christian and his men ruthlessly execute everyone apart from the 30 chosen ones, before successfully summoning the Eye of God.
As this monstrous entity begins to obliterate the planet, Christian leaps into the trans-dimensional rift, effectively sealing Earth’s fate while securing a future for himself and his select few. Throughout the series, the exact source of Christian’s vast knowledge has never been explicitly explained.
At different points, there are moments of dark humor suggesting that even he is unsure of what will happen once he completes the ritual. So when his plan not only succeeds but also results in the spacecraft successfully transporting his followers to a new reality, it comes as a shocking twist.
Elena Frees Paco From Mercedes’ Mind Control
Elena (Megan Montaner) has spent the season attempting to free Paco (Miguel Ángel Silvestre), the man she loves, from an unnatural influence. What she does not initially realize is that his ex-wife, Mercedes (Macarena Gómez), has gained supernatural abilities through possession of one of Judas’ coins.
This coin grants her the power to manipulate minds, and she has placed Paco under her control, intending to take him with her to a different reality where they will start anew—except Paco will be nothing more than her puppet.
Determined to rescue him, Elena sneaks onto the spaceship and confronts Paco, who is completely under Mercedes’ influence and attempts to kill her. In a final attempt to bring him back to his senses, she kisses him, breaking the mind control.
30 Coins incorporates elements from fairy tales, and while this moment may seem like an unexpected solution, it cleverly flips the traditional “true love’s kiss” idea, where instead of a prince saving a sleeping maiden, it is Elena who revives Paco from his trance.
As Paco and Elena regain control of their fate, they realize the spaceship is already accelerating towards the transdimensional rift. With no other choice, they find ancient space suits and put them on, hoping to survive the journey ahead.
Meanwhile, Mercedes, furious over losing her grip on Paco, vows to reclaim him, suggesting that even if Paco and Elena make it to the new world, they will not be free from her pursuit.
Lucifer Encourages Father Vergara To Reverse The Apocalypse
Throughout the second season, Father Vergara has been struggling to redeem himself after being deceived by Lucifer (Cosimo Fusco) and Cardinal Santoro (Manolo Solo), even enduring a period in Hell. Despite everything, he is brought back to life, looking worse for wear but still fully conscious.
Lucifer, recognizing that an empty world would render him powerless, wants Christian to be stopped before he succeeds. Although Santoro initially agrees to assist, he later betrays Vergara and joins Christian instead. Unable to prevent the apocalypse, Vergara is presented with another opportunity by Lucifer himself.

Taking on his preferred disguise as a businessman named Angelo, Lucifer urges Vergara not to abandon hope, insisting that there is still a way to prevent the destruction of the world.
He grants the priest the ability to travel between dimensions, sending him through the rift to chase after Christian and reverse the devastation. Upon arrival, Vergara finds himself in an alternate Pedraza, one that is thriving rather than reduced to ruins.
He quickly notices that many familiar faces exist in this new world, though their identities appear slightly different. It becomes clear that saving his Earth will require letting go of past grudges and forming unexpected alliances.
Back in the first season, Vergara uncovered the corruption at the heart of the Vatican, realizing that it only served its interests. Isolated and disillusioned in season two, he reluctantly cooperated with Lucifer simply because their objectives aligned.
However, by the time this season ends, the only person who has remained honest with him is the Devil himself. This creates an interesting moral dilemma, where a priest finds his most reliable ally in the very being he once opposed.
Everything he previously believed in has crumbled, forcing him to learn how to trust again if he hopes to restore balance. This marks Paul Giamatti’s second project with HBO following his lead role in the 2008 miniseries John Adams.
The Real Meaning Of 30 Coins Season 2’s Ending
The way season two ends suggests that 30 Coins will take a new direction when it returns for a third season. Vergara now finds himself in a setting that feels both familiar and entirely foreign at the same time. The trials he has endured on Earth and in Hell have shaped him for the challenges ahead.
30 Coins places heavy emphasis on cosmic horror, and the final episode serves as a reminder of the grave consequences that come with engaging with these powerful, otherworldly forces.
Entire communities are wiped out, homes are left in ruins, and in an ironic twist, a priest and the Devil end up sharing a common purpose—protecting what remains of humanity.
