Blink Twice Ending Explained: Frida’s Twisted Revenge and the Island’s Dark Secrets

In Blink Twice, Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, cocktail waitresses Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) find themselves enticed by the charm of billionaire tech mogul Slater King (Channing Tatum). After a chance encounter at a lavish party, the two women accept an invitation to Slater’s private island, an exclusive retreat where luxury appears boundless.

While Slater’s past holds a murky history of misconduct, Frida is captivated by his charisma and wealth, ignoring any red flags. Their seemingly idyllic escape, however, soon takes a sinister turn.

Upon arriving on the island, Frida and Jess surrender their phones and immerse themselves in an opulent lifestyle of champagne, gourmet meals, and daily psychedelic experiences. They are joined by other women, all scantily dressed and seemingly carefree, as well as Slater’s assistant and sister, Stacy (Geena Davis).

Yet, beneath the surface of paradise, unease begins to creep in. The presence of venomous snakes serves as an ominous warning, and Frida starts noticing unsettling inconsistencies—dirt appearing under her fingernails, stains mysteriously vanishing, and a growing sense that time is slipping through her grasp.

A Sinister Reality Revealed

The illusion shatters when Jess is bitten by a snake, and her desperate warnings about the island’s true nature are brushed aside by Frida, who is enamored with Slater’s attention. Frida encounters a housekeeper who cryptically utters the phrase “Red rabbit!” and offers her a green liquid, later revealed to be snake venom.

As Frida ingests the venom, horrifying memories begin to surface: the women on the island are repeatedly drugged, sexually assaulted, and then have their memories erased. Jess, who threatened to expose the truth, was murdered in front of the others—only for them to forget her existence entirely due to the drugs.

Determined to break the cycle, Frida enlists Sarah (Adria Arjona), a former reality TV survivalist, to help reveal the truth. The women secretly lace tequila shots with snake venom, forcing others to regain their memories.

However, the realization is met with mixed reactions. While some women are filled with fury, Stacy violently resists, admitting she was complicit in facilitating the crimes. As chaos erupts, Frida kills Stacy and retrieves evidence of their abuse—Polaroids cataloging every victim who has passed through Slater’s island.

A Reckoning and a Twist

As the venom takes effect, the women unleash their vengeance in a brutal confrontation, set to Beyoncé’s I’m That Girl. The bloodbath reveals a final, horrifying truth: Frida had been on the island before. Years prior, she had suffered at Slater’s hands, her red-rabbit nail art an unintentional clue to her past trauma.

This revelation fuels her fury as she and Sarah set the island ablaze, leaving only themselves and Slater standing. Instead of killing him outright, Frida swaps his vape with psychedelic drugs, ensuring his own downfall as they await rescue.

In a chilling conclusion, Frida is seen at a gala reminiscent of the film’s opening party, but with a shocking twist—she has married Slater and taken over his tech empire. As she stands victorious, embodying the phrase she once shared with Jess—”Success is the best revenge”—the film leaves audiences with an unsettling question: has Frida truly won, or has she become a part of the very corruption she fought to destroy?
