Multiple endings are a staple of Soulslike games, and Lords of the Fallen is no exception. This game offers three possible conclusions, each tied to a powerful godlike entity that players can choose to align with. The outcome not only influences the future of Mournstead.
It also determines which new starting class is unlocked for subsequent playthroughs. However, the specific ending a player reaches depends on the choices made throughout the journey, and it isn’t always immediately clear how each decision impacts the final result.

The Struggle Between Two Gods
At the heart of Lords of the Fallen is the clash between two deities, Adyr and Orius. Before the events of the game, Orius and his followers banished Adyr, a malevolent god, to the Rhogar Realm. They constructed magical beacons that weakened his influence to ensure he remained imprisoned.
However, over time, Adyr’s corrupting power eroded these beacons and weakened the Hallowed Sentinels who guarded them. With few followers of Orius left, the player character is tasked with restoring the five sealing beacons to prevent Adyr’s return and end his existence.
To aid in this mission, they are given the Umbral Lamp, a tool that allows movement between two interconnected realms.
Lords of the Fallen’s Radiant Ending
Among the three endings, the Radiant ending follows the most straightforward path and aligns with what some would consider the “good” outcome. The player’s objectives are fulfilled, yet certain mysteries remain, and choices are left unexplored.
Unlocking this conclusion is relatively simple, requiring completing the main tasks introduced early in the game. The player must journey to five corrupted beacons, confront and defeat the Colossal Sentinel bosses guarding them, and purify the beacons.
Once a single beacon is cleansed, this ending is locked in, regardless of any other choices made. The final stage takes place within Bramis Castle, where the player character eventually comes face-to-face with Adyr.
Appearing as a twisted mass of vines, Adyr attempts to sway them by claiming that Orius’ followers have been deceiving them. While they have the option to visit the Rhogar Realm and listen to his arguments, the confrontation is inevitable.
Adyr is slain, his use absorbed by the Umbral Lamp, and Orius assumes control as originally intended. However, the player character does not survive the absorption process.
Completing the game with this ending unlocks the Radiant Purifier starting class for the next playthrough. This class specializes in high-damage magic, focusing on Radiance-based spells.
Lords of the Fallen’s Inferno Ending
For those who prefer a darker path, the Inferno ending sees the player character betraying Orius’ followers and siding with Adyr, ushering in widespread devastation. Unlike the Radiant ending, players must avoid purifying any of the beacons while still defeating as many Colossal bosses as they choose.
During the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters segment, they must retrieve the Rune of Adyr from an altar near the Umbral Flowerbed. However, securing the rune requires battling the Rapturous Huntress of the Dark, and possibly Iron Wayfarer Andreas of Ebb if he is still alive.
If Andreas has already taken possession of the rune, he will be encountered later at the entrance to Bramis Castle. Once inside the castle, after defeating the Sundered Monarch, players can empower the rune by activating the Effigy of Adyr, infusing it with his lifeblood.
The next step involves returning to each remaining beacon and using the rune to sever Adyr’s chains. With this done, they must head to the Empyrean, where they may have previously fought Judge Cleric. If that battle was avoided earlier, it must be completed at this stage.
Defeating Judge Cleric reveals her true form as Judge Iselle, a human figure who has always harbored some sympathy for Adyr’s cause. Inside Judge Iselle’s dream, she is seen peacefully tending to a farm. The player character uses the rune to grant Adyr control over her body, fully restoring him to power.
As a reward for their loyalty, Adyr transforms the player character into a Rhogar Lord, granting them formidable fire-based abilities.
This unlocks the Lord starting class, which possesses a higher level of durability compared to most magic users. Lords also start at level 23, making them the highest-level class at the beginning of a new game.
Lords of the Fallen’s Umbral Ending
Although this cannot be classified as the “true” ending, the Umbral path stands out as the most unconventional, requiring the sacrifice of multiple allies. Instead of aligning with either Adyr or Orius, players turn to a hidden power.

The process of unlocking this ending is lengthy and requires strict adherence to specific steps. To begin, none of the beacons should be purified. Players must also obtain the Umbral Scouring Clump from Molhu at Skyrest Bridge.
This item grants access to Mother’s Lull, a shadowy, mysterious realm consisting of several floating platforms. Each platform contains a Remnant that assigns a task, and completing one unlocks the next. The first three Remnants provide seed pods linked to specific NPCs—Damarose, Gerlinde, and Melchior.
These seed pods must be used to eliminate each named character. Afterward, the Rune of Adyr must be acquired through any of the available methods. The final Remnant within Mother’s Lull alters this rune into the Withered Rune of Adyr, which is then required to defeat Andreas.
Andreas holds Harkyn’s Umbral Parasite, which can be used on the pillar in Molhu’s chamber. Molhu then reveals that to progress, Pieta’s soul must be removed, exposing her true nature. Once she is defeated, the real final boss, Elianne the Starved, must be vanquished to obtain her Umbral Parasite.
This artifact grants access to Mother’s Lull for the last time. In the final act, Molhu uses a seed pod on himself, ending his life and activating the last platform. Here, the player character confronts the Putrid Mother, an eerie entity composed entirely of featureless, pupil-less eyes and sharp, jagged teeth.
She pulls the player character into her embrace, and an epilogue explains that her influence shatters the barrier between the Axiom and Umbral realms, engulfing what remains of the world in darkness. While the exact nature of this outcome is left ambiguous, it does not suggest a positive fate.
This path unlocks the Putrid Child starting class, which has access to both Radiant and Inferno magic. Each of the three possible endings presents a bleak outcome, aligning with the game’s generally dark atmosphere. None of them offer a traditionally happy conclusion, and most result in the player character’s demise.
Given this, there is no definitive “best” choice—players are encouraged to follow their instincts during their first playthrough and see where their decisions lead them.
