The Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 introduces a unique spy storyline that doesn’t align directly with the main game’s conclusion. The DLC features a range of choices that lead to different outcomes for V. These choices shape the fate of key characters: Solomon Reed, Songbird (So Mi), and the main protagonist, V.
The story is full of betrayal and espionage, leaving players questioning who they can trust as the plot progresses. The DLC’s distinct story path makes it impossible for every player to have the same experience, ensuring that each choice leads to a unique result, making it a thrilling addition to the game.

How Many Endings Are There in Phantom Liberty?
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has four distinct endings that arise from two crucial decisions made during the DLC. These decisions start with a choice at Kurt Hansen’s Stadium base, followed by another based on the outcome of the initial choice.
Each ending has far-reaching consequences that affect the future of Solomon Reed, Songbird, and V, as well as their relationships. Depending on the paths taken, players will experience different emotional journeys with no guarantee of a “happy” resolution for all involved.
Phantom Liberty Ending Option: Kill Solomon Reed
At Kurt Hansen’s Stadium base, V faces a remarkable choice: whether to assist Songbird in escaping with the Neural Matrix. By choosing to help Songbird, V betrays Reed’s trust and breaks their allegiance with the FIA.
Songbird is weak and insists they must reach the Night City spaceport, where they plan to use the Neural Matrix to travel to the Moon, where a cure awaits them. As the situation escalates, President Myers and Reed appear, trying to stop them, leading to a fierce battle.
After boarding the shuttle, So Mi admits that she deceived V all along, revealing that the Neural Matrix can only work for one person, and she intends to use it on herself. At the shuttle, Reed confronts V and Songbird, and another decision presents itself.
If V chooses to continue helping Songbird, it leads to a violent encounter where V ends up killing Reed. Songbird proceeds to the Moon, while V returns to the situation they were in before Phantom Liberty.
Phantom Liberty Ending Option: Kill Songbird
In the initial stages of the story, V can choose to stall for time to help Reed capture Songbird. However, this plan doesn’t go smoothly, as Songbird soon realizes something is wrong, and the Blackwall corruption begins to take hold of her.
She spirals into a violent cyberpsycho state, wreaking havoc in Dogtown. In the middle of the chaos, Kurt Hansen kills Alex, forcing V to eliminate Hansen. As Songbird is captured by the MaxTac cybersquad, Reed rescues V, and the hunt for Songbird intensifies.
She flees into an underground Cynosure bunker, with V hot on her heels, pursued by a corrupted Cerberus guard robot. When V finally reaches the Cynosure core, Songbird is near death and pleads for V to end her suffering. This leads to another crucial decision: whether to let her live or kill her.
If V chooses to end Songbird’s life, Reed arrives shortly after, and together they deliver Songbird’s body to President Myers. Myers is displeased with Songbird’s death and refuses to assist V with the Relic. Reed, too, expresses his anger, blaming V for the ruin of his career and the loss of his friends.
However, he acknowledges that perhaps killing Songbird was the right choice.
Phantom Liberty Ending Option: Spare Songbird
For players who choose to spare Songbird’s life, the events play out similarly to the previous ending until Songbird pleads for death in the Cynosure core. If V decides to spare her and instead waits for Reed, Songbird expresses her belief that V has given her a fate worse than death.

Reed and V deliver her to President Myers, who, grateful for Songbird’s capture, rewards V with a medal. Later, V meets with Solomon Reed at a basketball court for a debriefing.
Reed reveals that Songbird’s Blackwall corruption was too advanced for the Neural Matrix to cure her, but they have found a way to save her through advanced surgery, albeit at the cost of her personality change. The Neural Matrix is now saved for V, which opens up a new ending path for the main Cyberpunk 2077 story.
Phantom Liberty Ending Option: Agree To Solomon Reed’s Deal
When V opts to help Songbird escape with the Neural Matrix, the story follows the same path as the option where Reed dies. However, after Songbird’s betrayal is revealed on the train, V can choose to listen to Johnny’s advice and strike a deal with Reed.
The deal involves handing over Songbird in exchange for the Neural Matrix. Later, Reed will contact V, initiating the events that lead to a new ending in the main story of Cyberpunk 2077.
While none of the endings offer a satisfying conclusion for all the characters, each provides a thought-provoking and tragic sequence of events that aligns perfectly with the game’s dark themes.
Johnny provides commentary throughout each ending, and in the case of the deal with Reed, he even expresses a form of pity for Songbird.
The Neural Matrix’s potential cure for V leads to a new ending in the main story, but players must be cautious not to contact Reed too soon after finishing the DLC, as this will lock them into a permanent path for the main storyline.
