The loss of his friend leaves Guthlee’s father, Mangru, shaken. His encounter with a respected member of their caste—someone whose life was changed through education—ignites a fresh determination to secure a better future for his son.
With this newfound motivation, he approaches Harishankar, the local school’s headmaster, in a bid to enrol Guthlee. Harishankar, although compassionate, remains bound by bureaucratic restrictions and offers empty reassurances.
Mangru’s determination leads him to rally other families in the community, urging them to fight for their children’s right to education. Their collective attempt to gain admission into the school ends in humiliation, as they are forcibly driven away. This bitter rejection breaks Mangru’s spirit, leaving him with no choice but to tell Guthlee to work as a school janitor.
Guthlee Ladoo: What Happened in the End?
Harishankar, after witnessing Guthlee’s perseverance, finally takes action. He organises a sports competition, inviting members of the press. Chaube, a local leader, announces that a Dalit student who wins the race will receive a scholarship.
