Netflix’s Argentinian thriller Caught is the second Harlan Coben novel adapted into Spanish and the first from South America. Like Coben’s other works, the six-part series is packed with twists, turns, and shocking revelations. The finale delivers an intense climax featuring betrayals, confessions, and violent confrontations as investigative journalist Ema Garay (Soledad Villamil) uncovers the truth about the murder of a 16-year-old musical prodigy, Martina.
Marcos (Juan Minujín) is revealed as a fraudster who, after being fired from his company, attempts to reclaim his family’s land by framing his childhood friend Leo (Alberto Ammann) for online grooming and sexual abuse. Episode 6 begins with a flashback where Marcos pressures Leo to sell the land, but Leo refuses, believing it belongs to the children of the Fronteras Foundation.
Marcos’s connection with Martina is further explored, revealing that he met her on a flight arranged by businessman Fran Briguel, who had exploited the young musician. Marcos manipulates Martina, convincing her to stay quiet about Fran’s misconduct while using her trust to set up Leo in a sting operation, leading to his wrongful persecution.
Ema Exposes Marcos’s Crimes as Juliana’s Dark Secret Finally Comes to Light
After uncovering Marcos’s scheme, Ema is attacked by him and nearly drowned. However, she manages to fight back and escape, ultimately exposing Marcos’s crimes through a social media post. Realizing that he has been cornered, Marcos makes a final call to his wife before deliberately crashing his car into a log truck, ending his life in a desperate act of evasion.

Although Marcos played a significant role in manipulating Martina, he was not her killer. Ema pieces together the truth after recognizing drawings in a photograph, leading her to Juliana, Leo’s ex-partner. It is revealed that Juliana’s teenage son, Armando, had left a party with Martina on a boat.
After sleeping together, Martina realized she was being used in Marcos’s plan. A heated argument followed, culminating in Armando accidentally pushing Martina down the stairs, resulting in her death. To protect her son, Juliana disposed of the body and framed Leo for the crime.
The Truth Emerges as Juliana Confesses and Leo Finds His Freedom
Juliana initially pleads with Ema to keep the truth hidden, but Ema convinces her to confess. Overcome with guilt, Juliana surrenders to the authorities, ready to face the consequences of her actions. Her desperate act of planting Martina’s phone at Leo’s campsite had effectively sealed his fate, making him a prime suspect in the case. However, justice is finally served as the real events come to light.
Leo was presumed dead after being shot and plunging off a cliff. However, Ema grows suspicious when his body is never found. A conversation with Facu, the man who pulled the trigger, suggests that Leo might still be alive. In the final moments of the series, it is revealed that he survived and chose to vanish rather than return to a town that had falsely accused and betrayed him. He is last seen riding across the vast Argentinian countryside with a group of wanderers, embracing a fresh start far from his painful past.
