Plot Summary and Ending of Red Rooms
A courtroom trial involving Ludovic Chevalier, a man accused of murdering three women through the infamous Red Room urban legend and broadcasting the acts online, serves as the backdrop of the film.
While facing the charges, Chevalier maintains his plea of innocence. Among those following the case is fashion model Kelly-Anne, who quickly becomes fixated on learning everything about it.
While investigating, Kelly-Anne befriends Clementine, an individual who strongly believes Chevalier is innocent. Despite their opposing viewpoints and differing personalities, their conversations deepen over time. Kelly-Anne even introduces Clementine to her personal AI model, Guinevere.
As the court proceedings continue, a closed hearing is set to screen the videos Chevalier allegedly recorded. While evidence suggests three victims were involved, only two videos are retrieved. Interestingly, the footage of Camille Beaulieu, one of the victims, is missing.
Kelly-Anne’s curiosity about Camille intensifies, prompting her to dig deeper into her life. She goes as far as tracking down Camille’s address, hacking into her WiFi, and accessing her emails.
Through this, she stumbles upon the missing recordings, which had been saved among Camille’s digital files. She later shares this discovery with Clementine.
As time passes, Kelly-Anne begins mirroring Camille’s appearance and behavior. She starts wearing similar outfits, and her actions catch Chevalier’s attention during one of the hearings. Alongside this, paranoia grips her, making her feel as though she is constantly being observed.
Toward the climax of Red Rooms, Kelly-Anne completely detaches from her own identity and fully adopts Camille’s likeness. Wearing a blonde wig to resemble the victim, she poses for photographs on her bed and repeatedly watches Camille’s final recorded moments.
The movie’s conclusion presents a media report detailing the trial’s outcome. A mysterious source submits the missing video clips, finally leading to Chevalier’s guilty verdict.
Shortly after, the accused changes his stance and admits guilt. Since Kelly-Anne was the only one with access to the lost footage, it is strongly implied that she was the one who sent the videos.
