Did Wanda Make It Out Alive?

A key part of Millennium revolves around Anna Jass and her relationship with Wanda, who happens to be Teresa’s daughter. Anna and Teresa’s bond was tragically severed after a car crash took Teresa’s life, an incident for which Anna held herself responsible.

Even though Wanda never blamed her, and despite the closeness they once shared, Anna found it difficult to reconnect with her. With Anna keeping her distance and Piotr preoccupied with Joanna, Wanda grew increasingly isolated.

This left her vulnerable, and she eventually became entangled with Donata and Filip, whose human trafficking ring turned her into a victim. Even with everything she went through, she survived.

Who Was Filip, and What Was His Link to Stefan?

Like its predecessors, the third season of The Mire begins with a murder. This time, the victim is Kociolek, the manager of Centrium Hotel. The circumstances surrounding his death draw particular interest from Anna’s father, Stefan.

Kociolek was Filip’s father. He also had ties to Grochowiak, the man Helena killed in Season 1. Years ago, Grochowiak and Kociolek operated their trafficking network, with Grochowiak using his position as a swimming coach to supply victims, who were then trafficked through Kociolek’s connections.

Without realizing who he was dealing with, Stefan formed a friendship with Kociolek. At some point, he promised that if anything ever happened to Kociolek, he would take care of Filip. When Kociolek was eventually murdered, Stefan stepped in, unaware of the deeper truths waiting to be uncovered.

Who Was Responsible for Kociolek’s Murder?

The person who took Kociolek’s life turned out to be none other than Filip himself, motivated by past events that left deep scars. Although Kociolek was not his biological father, he treated Filip’s mother with extreme cruelty.

At one point, she defended herself against a violent man Kociolek had forced her to be with, and in retaliation, Kociolek killed her. Filip witnessed this horrific act. After avenging his mother’s death by killing his stepfather, Filip vanished.

He changed his identity, adopting the name Albert, and later married Donata. This was the reason Anna and her father struggled so much to track him down.

The Importance of the Necklace

Anna and Filip crossed paths briefly during childhood, and during that time, she gave him her mother’s valuable necklace as a token of friendship. When Filip’s mother’s remains were discovered, Anna recognized the necklace, which helped her connect the dots.

Determined to confront Filip, she tracked him to the shed where he used to take her as a child. There, she found him attempting to bury his mother’s body in the backyard. With nowhere left to run, Filip admitted to killing his stepfather and explained why he had done it.

He then surrendered to the authorities. Meanwhile, Donata was apprehended by Kinga, effectively shutting down their local trafficking ring. However, those who orchestrated everything from behind the scenes remained unidentified and free.

What Happened with the Letter in the Final Episode?

Before his death, the man Filip’s mother killed had given Kociolek a letter, which was supposed to be delivered to Witold. However, Kociolek never passed it on, possibly keeping it for leverage in the future. The letter had been sent by Else Koepke.

When Witold eventually arrives at the address mentioned in the letter, he learns from Else’s daughter that her mother had passed away a few years prior. There is no happy resolution for anyone involved, but at least some unanswered questions find closure.
