From Season 2 Ending Explained: Shocking Escape, Haunting Visions, and Persistent Questions

Visions of children and a lighthouse guide her to a shocking escape.

The season finale of From is filled with twists that leave many questions unanswered. The biggest shock comes when Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) manages to escape the town, a place where everyone is trapped. This happens after a boy in white pushes her off the top of a lighthouse.

Throughout Season 2, Tabitha experiences disturbing visions of children and the lighthouse. When she learns that Victor’s mother had gone to the lighthouse seeking an escape, Tabitha decides to follow her path. She later wakes up in a hospital after hikers discover her along a trail.

However, the hikers find no one from her family with her, which dismisses the “everyone is in a coma” theory. This, however, sparks new theories about the boy in white who pushed her, as he seems to have aided other characters as well.

It wasn’t only Tabitha who experienced strange visions in Fromville. Jade (David Alpay) also started seeing a mysterious symbol. After discovering that another resident committed unspeakable acts due to this symbol, Jade finds his way into the tunnels beneath the town, as Tabitha had earlier mentioned.

In the tunnels, he discovers a circle of stone slabs illuminated by light, which suggests some form of ritual. As Jade examines the slabs, he begins to see deformed children lying on them, pointing upwards and repeatedly saying “anghkooey.”

When Jade looks in the direction they are pointing to, they see a symbol made from tree roots. Then there are the terrifying creatures from the forest, which continue to escalate and torment the residents of Fromville. Boyd (Harold Perrineau) watches as several characters fall into comas, their eyes turning completely white.

These comatose characters do not remain silent as typical coma patients do; instead, they scream in fear and pain. Boyd manages to help a trio of characters by destroying a mystical music box that appeared throughout the season.

However, an image of Boyd’s deceased wife warns him that destroying the box would only delay the suffering, not end it.

What Is From About?

On the surface, From tells the story of the Matthews family, who find themselves trapped in a small, unnamed town along with other residents in a similar predicament. By day, life seems relatively peaceful as the residents carry on with their daily routines.

However, once night falls, dangerous creatures from the surrounding forest emerge to torment and eventually kill the residents. Thanks to some talismans Boyd discovered when he first arrived, the townspeople can keep the human-like monsters from entering their homes.

However, escaping the town is not as simple as driving along the road to a highway. The road loops back around, bringing any traveler right back to the town. Venturing into the forest doesn’t lead to safety either, as the forest has no path that leads to a highway.

Instead, it exposes travelers to even more monsters and other unknown dangers. The forest is also the only way to find the lighthouse, which, as shown in Season 3, may be the only true means of escape. At its core, From is about hope, fear, isolation, death, and faith.

While it draws comparisons to Lost, it promises to answer more of its mysteries than its predecessor ever did.

Will There Be a From Season 3?

MGM+ has confirmed that From will return for a third season, which is great news considering the many mysteries that remain unsolved for the residents of Fromville.

There’s the mysterious voice that appeared on the radio after Jim (Eion Bailey) set up a radio tower, fueling theories that the town may be part of a social experiment. There’s also the matter of the worms Boyd used to infect and kill the smiling monster.

Most importantly, there’s the return of Tabitha, who finds herself back in the real world. Jack Bender, one of the show’s directors, mentioned to Tell-TaleTV: “It builds and builds to a really powerful, crazy, climactic end of the season, which is where we’re going to pick up season three. It does get worse; it’s like quicksand.”

Although no official premiere date has been set for Season 3, production is already underway with the cast and crew filming the new season. You can now watch this gripping film from start to finish on Amazon Prime Video.
