Black Mirror Season 6 (Demon 79) Ending Explained: The Dark and Twisted End

A twist that blurs the line between reality and fiction.

The twist in Joan is Awful takes viewers through a mind-bending journey. At first, Joan is shocked to find out that she unknowingly allowed a platform called ‘Streamberry’ to create a computer-generated version of her life using the faces of well-known celebrities.

However, things get clearer when a computer technician reveals that Joan isn’t the real one; she is Annie Murphy, an actress known for Schitt’s Creek. It turns out, there are different levels of Joan, and each level watches a different version of themselves on screen.

For example, in Salma’s world, the ‘Joan’ character is portrayed by Cate Blanchett, and so on. This is why every character in Annie Murphy’s version of events is played by a famous TV actor—they are all part of the ‘Joan is Awful’ simulation.

As things spiral out of control, the ‘real Joan’ ends up destroying the main server, causing the ‘Joan’ we’ve been following to cease to exist. The final scene changes to the original Joan, who has opened her dream coffee shop.

She is now friends with Annie, who helped Joan in destroying the server, though both are under house arrest.

Loch Henry’s Ending Explained

This episode takes a darker turn, and that’s saying something for Black Mirror! Davis and his girlfriend Pia are working on a documentary about the mass tortures and murders in Davis’ hometown. A producer interested in the project suggests that they include more personal details to make it compelling.

The team starts shooting ‘authentic’ footage with an analogue camera. However, while Davis is recovering from a car crash, Pia uncovers a chilling truth: his mother’s videotapes feature the tortures, revealing that she and Davis’ late father were involved in the horrific crimes.

As she tries to escape, Pia suffers a fatal accident. In a tragic turn, Davis’ mother realizes Pia has discovered the truth and ends her life. This leaves Davis with a pile of disturbing tapes to incorporate into his documentary.

Davis receives a BAFTA for the documentary, filled with personal and raw details. While his friend Stuart celebrates the town’s revival, Davis remains despondent. Despite achieving success, he has lost everything important to him.

Beyond the Sea’s Ending Explained

If you thought Loch Henry was dark, Beyond the Sea will change your perspective. Set in the 1960s, two astronauts are part of a program that allows them to project their consciousness into a realistic robotic version of themselves on Earth while they are on a six-year mission.

They return to their real bodies only for physical check-ups or in case of mechanical failures. Tragedy strikes when intruders, resembling Charles Manson’s cult, break into David’s home, murdering his entire family and destroying his robotic version.

Left grieving and stranded on the ship, David’s colleague Cliff, played by Aaron Paul, offers him a chance to use his avatar to visit Earth and paint, which helps David cope. During this time, David starts developing feelings for Cliff’s wife, Lana, and tries to seduce her, only to be rejected.

In a heated confrontation, David and Cliff exchange harsh words, but David feels misunderstood. He later lures Cliff to the ship with a fake excuse, returning to his home where it’s heavily implied that he murders Lana and Cliff’s son, Henry.

In the final scene, Cliff, devastated by the loss of his family, returns to the ship, where he shares a somber moment with David, who seems to find solace in their mutual pain.

As the audience, we know that Mazey was involved in a hit-and-run accident and is suffering from guilt, struggling with flashbacks while wreaking havoc on the producer’s house, who has been keeping her hidden. Bo tracks Mazey to a rehab facility, where she finds Mazey chained up.

After Bo frees her, it’s revealed that Mazey had accidentally hit a werewolf and was now infected. As she transforms into a monster, Mazey kills everyone except Bo. Bo manages to shoot her, but Mazey turns back into a human and pleads with Bo to kill her.

In a chilling twist, Bo hands Mazey a gun to end her own life and takes photographs of the tragic moment, fully aware that these images will make her a fortune.
