Season 1 of Loot came to an end with a mix of loud drama, sharp humour, and emotional surprises. This Apple TV+ comedy, which took inspiration in part from Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Scott’s divorce, was brought to life by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard.
Both creators had previously worked with Maya Rudolph on their 2018 dramedy Forever, so it wasn’t a tough decision to place her at the centre of their 2022 comedy series. Watching Season 1 confirmed that Rudolph was perfectly cast, and after the eventful last episode, it’s difficult not to look forward to what could follow.

Titled “The Silver Moon Summit,” Episode 10 of the season came out on August 12, and it ended with several unresolved issues. Viewers were left wondering about romantic connections, Molly’s financial choices, and how her public image might be affected, as well as what might become of the Wells Foundation.
While many wait restlessly for the second season, there’s quite a bit to unpack in how the season wrapped up.
Inside Molly’s Trip to Corsica and the Chaos That Followed
As “The Silver Moon Summit” kicks off, Molly and her team make their way to Corsica to attend a high-profile summit.
She had agreed to assist her new wealthy partner, Jean-Pierre Voland (played by Olivier Martinez), with presenting his Arroyo Water Purification Machine, prompting the Wells Foundation team to show up for support.
Upon arrival at a stunning Corsican mansion, Molly pulls Nicholas aside and once again apologises for missing his play. From there, she sets out to meet Jean-Pierre, while Howard, Arthur, and Nicholas take the opportunity to roam around the island and enjoy some bonding moments.
Before Molly could deliver her speech at the summit, Sofia raised a strong objection. “I don’t think you should do this. Don’t go ahead with that presentation tomorrow. Come up with a reason and let’s head back home—we still have loads of work there,” she pleads.
She then questions whether Molly is aligned with the summit’s goals, asking if this truly reflects her vision. Molly apologises for wanting to experience happiness again following her divorce and responds, “I’m not shocked that you’re judging me because it feels like no matter what I do, it’s never enough for you…
It’s going to be great tomorrow, and I don’t need your permission to make any decisions because the money belongs to me.” That exchange cut deep. As the women exchanged words, the men were busy having heartfelt discussions along a scenic beach.
Arthur, speaking vaguely, lets Nicholas and Howard know that he ended things with his lovely girlfriend, Chelsea. Then, spotting a bird that brings to mind the painting Molly once gave him, he becomes visibly emotional.
After falling off a horse earlier and thinking he was going to die, Arthur uses this moment to confess that he’s in love with Molly. Still, he feels like he doesn’t stand a chance when placed beside a billionaire like Jean-Pierre, describing it as being stuck in an unfair competition between wealth and simplicity.
But Howard and Nicholas reassure him that being a kind, grounded person is exactly the kind of energy Molly needs.
Things Fall Apart at the Presentation
Once the time for Molly’s presentation arrives, she invites GaTa—known for his work as a rapper, actor, and multi-talented entertainer—on stage to help with the demonstration. She explains that the machine should be able to convert a bucket of filthy brown sludge into clean water in just seconds, while also creating electricity.
But things go wrong when the output turns out rusty and foul-smelling. GaTa finds the result repulsive and refuses to drink the sample, even when Molly whispers to him that she spent $3 billion on the machine and is willing to double his pay.
Wanting to protect both her own and Jean-Pierre’s reputations, Molly forces herself to gulp the dirty water and nearly throws up in front of everyone. She somehow manages to finish the glass and then flees from the stage, cursing as she runs.
Back in her hotel room, Molly gets a text from her ex-husband John, asking, “I saw what happened. Are you okay? Please call me.” Shortly after that, Jean-Pierre visits her and suggests they disappear together for some time. But the idea of abandoning her commitments doesn’t sit well with Molly anymore.
She writes a note for Sofia and the rest of the team, letting them know she’s leaving the foundation completely. Just as she prepares to fly home in her private jet, Sofia appears and delivers some heartfelt words. “I like you, and we need you.
You brought us together and made us better,” she says, turning down Molly’s resignation. Molly then confesses she has ended her relationship with Jean-Pierre. In that moment, a new idea hits her: she’s going to rewrite the entire story.
A Powerful Public Declaration That Shocked Everyone
Without warning, Molly walks back into the summit and cuts into one of the panels to speak about “yesterday’s huge mess.” She then delivers a bold, brave, and unexpected address where she states, “Billionaires shouldn’t exist. I shouldn’t exist.

I’ve been fortunate to meet some people who have told me this several times, and it’s only now that I’m truly listening.” The full clip of Molly’s life-changing speech is available here: Molly rounds off her address with a decision that leaves the crowd in shock: “From today, I’m giving away all my money — the full $120 billion.”
Gasp! She’s fully aware she might mess things up here and there, but she gives her word that she’ll try her best to bring her bank balance to zero and assist as many people as possible. Before stepping away from the microphone, she calls on other “ridiculously wealthy people” watching her speech to do the same thing.
“If not, then it’s not real charity—it’s just some PR nonsense,” she ends.
A Shocking Twist to Close the Season
Moments after Molly finishes her brave speech, her cheating ex John sends another text: “Holy shit! You’re full of surprises. I need to see you. When can we talk?” Please, exit the stage, John—you had your time.
Everything seems to suggest that Arthur is finally about to tell Molly how he truly feels, but his confession is never shown. Instead, the scene cuts to the next morning. Molly’s dress is lying on the floor. She wakes up with a hangover next to a man who viewers assume—fingers crossed—is Arthur.
She opens the curtains and says, “Oh my god, things got pretty crazy last night, didn’t they?” But it’s not Arthur. It’s JOHN. He pops out of bed and delivers the season’s last line: “Yeah, things got crazy.” Just like that, viewers are left stunned.
