Season 2 of Loot ended with plenty of wild moments, especially a cliffhanger that left many viewers eagerly wondering what might happen if there’s a third season. Instead of rounding things up quietly, Apple TV+ closed this season by putting Molly (Maya Rudolph) in a tough spot.
Her Space for Everyone initiative drew the attention of some powerful opposition. At the same time, her feelings for Arthur (Nat Faxon) grew stronger and pushed her into some impulsive actions. These included a surprising decision to possibly leave town without warning, with Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) beside her in the final shot of the episode.

Cocreator Alan Yang explained to TheWrap that this ending mirrors something from Empire Strikes Back, where both personal and work-related troubles push Molly to a breaking point, leading her to say, “I’m done with this.”
Matt Hubbard, another co-creator, added that Molly represents a side of billionaire life where mistakes don’t come with heavy consequences. If things go wrong, she can jump on her private jet and disappear—something ordinary people don’t have the luxury of doing.
A Shocking Turn and Betrayal
He mentioned that Season 3 would give a proper look at what might come from such a bold decision. While Molly and Grace (Ana Gasteyer), another billionaire, were enjoying media attention for expanding Space for Everyone across the country, Vanity Fair’s article on their efforts attracted someone new.
A “trillionaire” from Wyoming became interested and asked to see the repurposed hotel for unhoused people in Los Angeles. His visit looked promising at first, and he even invited Molly to a final discussion before making any firm commitments.
But instead of a business talk, Molly walked into a meeting with cloaked figures who insisted she back away from the initiative. Their goal was to protect the current structure where the ultra-wealthy remain untouched.
Molly refused to be intimidated by them, but her mood dropped when she discovered that Grace had sided with them, leaving her to continue the Space for Everyone effort on her own. Things were also changing for Sofia (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez), who reunited with her boyfriend Isaac (O-T Fagbenle) in New Orleans.
Molly had encouraged her to stop putting work first and take a chance on love, and that advice paid off. Inspired by Sofia’s bold step, Molly later met up with Arthur and finally told him how she felt. They shared a kiss, only to be interrupted by Arthur’s model girlfriend, Willa (Hayley Magnus).
Uncertainty and Possibility Ahead
Without showing much of what happened next, the story quickly moved to Molly storming into a jet with her luggage, dragging Nicholas along. Her next destination remained unknown, but one thing was clear—she was ready to leave the chaos behind her.

Rudolph told TheWrap that nobody on the team has stopped imagining what could come next, saying they’ve been endlessly discussing the possibilities. Kim Booster also mentioned that Nicholas and Molly’s friendship is built on loyalty without conditions.
He joked that chasing her down with her bags is nothing new, and even though he doesn’t yet know why she’s running this time, he’s sure he’ll find out. As for what happens beyond this, Apple has yet to confirm if there will be another season.
But Rudolph, who also works as an executive producer on the series, said they’re not running out of ideas anytime soon. She believes the show offers a strong chance to start open conversations about wealth inequality and different ways to address it.
Rudolph pointed out that these days, examples of excessive wealth are everywhere, and the show has barely scratched the surface when it comes to reflecting those realities.
