Ajay Devgn plays Kabir, while R Madhavan portrays Vanraj, Jyotika takes on the role of Jyoti, Janki Bodiwala appears as Janvi, and Anngad Raaj features as Dhruv in Shaitaan. Directed by Vikas Bahl, this horror thriller made its way to cinemas on March 8. It serves as a Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati movie, Vash.
Critics have shared mixed reactions to Ajay Devgn’s latest release. Within the story, Kabir and his family’s peace is shattered when a stranger named Vanraj invades their farmhouse.
Vanraj, who gains control over Kabir’s daughter Janvi, demands that her parents “offer” her to him. When Kabir and Jyoti refuse to surrender their daughter, Vanraj begins to torment them mercilessly.

At one point, Vanraj orders Janvi to attack her younger brother Dhruv. Faced with this horrifying situation, what path did Kabir choose? Did he give up his daughter, or was he able to defeat the sinister Vanraj? Let’s take a closer look at how events played out.
Shaitaan Ending Explained
Following Janvi’s violent attack on Dhruv, Kabir and Jyoti, feeling helpless, accept Vanraj’s frightening demands and agree to “offer” their daughter. As Jyoti rushes Dhruv to the hospital, Kabir makes a bold decision to confront Vanraj, trailing him into the forest.
A flashback reveals that Kabir had cleverly sent Vanraj’s location to his cook’s phone beforehand. Stopping at the cook’s house, Kabir retrieves the phone and uses a mapping app to track Vanraj.
Deep inside the forest, Vanraj is seen exercising control over more than a hundred girls. He instructs them that dropping a black Voodoo doll means taking one step closer to a burning pit, and if he drops the red doll, they must jump into the fire. As Kabir tries to reach him, he faces strong resistance from Vanraj’s guards and suffers severe injuries in the scuffle.
Eventually, Kabir finds the site where Vanraj holds all the girls captive. However, Vanraj overpowers Kabir, warning him that any attack on him will provoke the girls to turn violent. Lying injured at Vanraj’s feet, Kabir watches as Vanraj prepares to toss the red doll into the flames.
Summoning his strength, Kabir strikes Vanraj with a knife – the same one Janvi had used to stab him earlier. Just before the doll is thrown, Kabir cuts off Vanraj’s tongue with that knife.
Without the ability to speak, Vanraj loses his power. Kabir tosses the severed tongue into the fire. As the girls, including Janvi, move aggressively towards Kabir, he quickly plays a recording from their home where Vanraj’s voice says, “You are free.” A flashback then shows how Kabir had earlier used Dhruv’s recording device to capture Vanraj’s crucial words.
Shaitaan Ending Explained: Is Vanraj Dead or Alive?
As the final moments approach, the police express their gratitude to Kabir for saving all the girls, although they mention that Vanraj has disappeared. A few moments later, during a mid-credits scene, Kabir is seen picking up a dead rat in the forest before heading into an underground room where Vanraj is tied up.

Vanraj, now looking frail and starving, pleads for food. Kabir, however, refuses to feed him. Instead, he reminds Vanraj that although he believed himself superior to humans, fathers are willing to go to unimaginable lengths for their children.
After speaking those words, Kabir leaves the underground basement, leaving Vanraj trapped in a miserable and broken condition.
Will There Be Shaitaan 2?
The ending leaves the door slightly open for possibilities. Although Vanraj remains alive, his missing tongue renders him powerless. Still, the story hints that if someone associated with him were to find his location, new problems could arise.
Yet, there has been no indication from the filmmakers about a second installment. For now, it is a waiting game to see if Shaitaan 2 will ever come to life.
