Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi arrived on Disney+ with six CGI animated shorts created in the style of The Clone Wars. The anthology is split between two central characters: Ahsoka Tano at different stages of her early life, and Count Dooku during his years as a Jedi before falling to the dark side. Written by Dave Filoni, who is also creating the upcoming live-action Ahsoka series, the shorts feature returning voice actors Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka and Corey Burton as Dooku. All episodes take place in the prequel era, several decades before A New Hope.
Ahsoka’s Growth and Dooku’s Disillusionment During Their Early Jedi Journeys
The shorts begin with “Life and Death,” which shows infant Ahsoka on her homeworld, Shili. After being taken by a wild creature, she calms it with the Force and reveals her natural connection to it, marking her as a future Jedi. “Practice Makes Perfect” continues her development as Anakin Skywalker puts her through intense training against clone trooper blaster fire, a skill that later helps her survive Order 66. “Resolve” explores her life after the fall of the Jedi Order, covering her period in hiding, her confrontation with an Imperial Inquisitor, and her decision to return to the fight against the Empire.

Dooku’s shorts, titled “Justice,” “Choices,” and “The Sith Lord,” trace his gradual loss of faith in the Republic and the Jedi Council. In “Justice,” he confronts a corrupt senator and nearly resorts to lethal force, only held back by his Padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn. “Choices” pushes him further as he sympathizes with rebels who distrust the Republic and grows resentful when Mace Windu is elevated within the Order. These stories show how Dooku’s once noble ideals begin drifting away from those of the Jedi.
Dooku’s Final Fall and Ahsoka’s Return to the Rebellion Amid Rising Darkness
“The Sith Lord,” which takes place during the events of The Phantom Menace, reveals Dooku deleting Kamino from the Jedi archives and secretly meeting Darth Sidious while grieving Qui-Gon’s death. When Jedi Master Yaddle discovers his betrayal, Dooku is forced to choose between the Jedi and the Sith. He sides with Sidious, kills Yaddle, and fully embraces his new identity as Darth Tyranus. The short explains Yaddle’s mysterious disappearance and highlights how Sidious used Dooku’s grief to draw him fully into the dark side.
The final short, “Resolve,” shows Ahsoka attempting to live quietly after the rise of the Galactic Empire, working on a farming world while avoiding detection. After she uses the Force to save a coworker, an Imperial Inquisitor tracks her down. Ahsoka defeats him and reaches out to Bail Organa, signaling her readiness to join the early Rebel movement. Although the events resemble those in the 2016 Ahsoka novel, the short may be seen as an alternate telling of her return to the fight.
