When the creators of Money Heist, Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, release a series, viewers expect high-stakes drama and clever plotting. Billionaires’ Bunker, their latest Netflix thriller, meets these expectations. The eight-part series, released on September 19, takes audiences on an underwater adventure full of suspense, deception, and a sophisticated heist targeting the ultra-rich.
The story centres on siblings Minerva and Ziro, who build a luxurious bunker 900 feet below the surface called Kimera Underground Park. They convince billionaires that a nuclear catastrophe is imminent and that they need protection in the bunker. The underground facility is filled with advanced engineering and immersive simulations, setting the stage for psychological games and intense tension.
Minerva’s High-Tech Heist Unfolds While Betrayal and Tragedy Strike the Bunker
Minerva targets billionaire Guillermo Falcon and uses AI technology called Roxan, along with elaborate schemes, to steal a large portion of his wealth. Her team, including Ingrid and Luca, manipulates Falcon’s business partner Oswaldo to finalise a €900 million deal. The plan combines technology, deception, and psychological manipulation, giving the series a futuristic and suspenseful feel.

Inside the bunker, Max Verala, who struggles with personal trauma, teams up with Falcon’s daughter Asia to survive and expose the con. Meanwhile, Mimi, Falcon’s second wife, requires dialysis, but Asia is unable to save her despite her efforts. Mimi dies in the bunker, showing the darker aspects of betrayal, greed, and human vulnerability.
Love, Escape, and Unanswered Questions as Max Flees the Bunker Chaos
During the chaos, Asia confesses her love for Max. Although Max does not openly return her feelings, he promises to come for her if he survives. Their relationship evolves from tension and resentment to a genuine emotional connection, providing a personal and human dimension amid the thriller’s suspense.
The series ends with Max escaping toward the surface while explosions and Minerva’s pursuit continue. He wears a radiation-proof suit as he opens the final exit, but the truth about the fake apocalypse remains hidden from the hostages. Key questions remain unresolved, including whether Minerva will spare Asia, if Max will survive, and whether the billionaires will discover the con. These unresolved threads suggest a possible second season.
