Charlotte returns in the form of the Marionette and possesses one of the investigators, Lisa, allowing her to act beyond the confines of the abandoned restaurant. As the situation spirals out of control, Abby becomes possessed by Charlotte, forcing Mike to save her by using Charlotte’s beloved music box to draw the spirit out. Soon after, another devastating revelation emerges. Michael, the night guard from the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, reveals himself as Vanessa’s long lost brother and a secret accomplice in the chaos. He admits to reviving the Marionette in hopes of completing his father William Afton’s work. When Vanessa refuses to join him, Michael unleashes the Toy animatronics on her, Mike, and Abby.
In a decisive moment, the original animatronics intervene to protect the trio, defeating the Toy animatronics one by one. However, they were never designed to function outside the restaurant and begin to break down after the battle. As the spirits of Afton’s victims finally pass into the afterlife, one issues a warning to Mike about a looming evil that is stronger than before. The truth becomes grimly clear. The original animatronics had been containing William Afton’s corpse inside the Springtrap suit, and with their departure, nothing remains to imprison his spirit.
After the final confrontation, trust between Mike and Vanessa fractures. Emotionally vulnerable and isolated, Vanessa becomes the Marionette’s next host when Charlotte possesses her. The mid credits scene teases the future as scavengers unknowingly awaken Afton’s spirit by disturbing the Springtrap suit. In the post credits scene, Henry Emily reveals his role as Afton’s former partner and warns Mike that the Marionette is still free. His message is unsettling and clear. The nightmare is not over, and the evil tied to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is only beginning to rise again.
