From the look of things, it was always going to be hard for Simon to keep his involvement hidden. Eventually, Paul discovered that Simon was the one who had landed the heavy punch that left his son Jordan in a coma, and this made him furious.
Mark, after being run over by Beth, ends up discovered early in the final episode by a group of builders working at the site. They notice that he has a gun and quickly alert the authorities, which means Paul is unable to question Mark or get more information from him.

At the same moment, DS Kelly Evans begins to suspect that Simon and Jordan have a deeper connection than they’ve admitted. Even though both keep denying it, she keeps questioning them. But it’s Harry, after calling her to York Avenue, who accidentally reveals that Simon was the one responsible for punching Jordan.
The Tension Rises and Paul Closes In
Following the accident, another person within Paul’s group not only informs him about Mark’s condition and arrest but also shares that someone else saw Mark arriving at the site in the company of Simon and Jordan.
Inside his house, where he’s enjoying items bought with Simon’s blackmail funds, Jordan’s peace is disrupted when Paul storms in, visibly angry. He demands to know why Jordan was seen with Simon. After applying pressure on him, Jordan confesses that Simon was the one who attacked him.
Paul then makes it clear to his son that he must now sort out the situation with Simon directly. Inside a hotel, Simon and Beth finally find a brief moment of quiet until Sophie begins to experience an asthma crisis. It’s then Beth remembers she left the inhaler behind.
Since no pharmacy is open, Simon returns to their house to retrieve it. But as he arrives, he hears the front door open and realizes Paul and another gang member have entered.
Simon hides under Sophie’s bed. Paul doesn’t see him, but while searching the house, he discovers an empty hotel key card wallet, which shows exactly where Simon is staying and which room number.
Beth, still dealing with Sophie’s asthma, starts going around the hotel knocking on doors until someone lends her an inhaler, saving her daughter’s life. Just as they’re trying to relax again, Beth hears Paul’s voice outside.
He tries to get in, but a guest nearby directs him to the reception, where Paul pretends to be Simon and claims he has misplaced his card. After collecting the new key card, Paul enters the hotel room, only to find it empty. Beth and Sophie had already escaped through the back and managed to get into a taxi.
As soon as Paul’s companion leaves Simon’s house, Beth calls Simon to update him, prompting him to leave in a hurry. But before he gets far, Jordan appears and tells him he has been waiting for him.
What Happened to Simon and Jordan?
When Simon shows no remorse, Jordan begins to feel like he’s no longer in control. He insists Simon must apologize, but Simon instead calls him “insane”. This triggers Jordan, who decides to attack Simon.
During the confrontation, Jordan gains the upper hand and pins Simon to the ground—until Harry suddenly appears and stabs Jordan with a large kitchen knife. Harry quickly tells Simon to leave the scene, but Simon refuses.

Perhaps seeing echoes of what happened before, he urges Harry to call for medical help and begins pressing down on Jordan’s wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. Jordan is taken away in an ambulance, Harry is arrested, and DS Evans also places Simon in custody.
Simon is charged with causing grievous bodily harm and obstructing justice. But DS Evans receives an update from another officer saying that Jordan’s official statement does not identify Simon as the person who attacked him previously.
Instead, Jordan claims he was assaulted by a young man he didn’t recognize. During the questioning, Simon responds with “no comment” even though he had earlier expressed concerns about Paul. Simon is released from custody the next day and calls Beth.
But the call is interrupted when Paul pulls up in front of him and forces him into a car, taking him to a shipping yard. Paul confronts Simon about what happened to Jordan and points a gun at his head, but fires the shot to miss on purpose. He admits that although Simon harmed his son before, he also saved his life this time.
Paul warns Simon that he’s free to live wherever he wants, but if they cross paths again, he will not miss the next shot. Back at his place, Paul breaks down while watching an old home video showing Jordan and his late son Danny. Later on, he goes to collect Jordan from the hospital.
Even though Jordan looks uneasy, Paul simply asks him if he’s okay. The final scenes show Simon and Beth’s house with a ‘Sold’ sign outside. The couple and their daughter pack their belongings into a car.
Though their destination is not mentioned, Beth mentions that they have their tickets and passports ready, suggesting that they may be on their way to stay with Simon’s sister in Florida.
