From Season 1 Ending Explained: What Happened To Boyd, Sara, Tabitha, And Victor?

The creatures' deception brings a deadly end to the false safety of the colony.

Due to the protection provided by the talisman, these creatures were unable to force their way into buildings shielded by it. As a result, they resorted to tricking people into opening their doors so they could feast on them.

In Episode 7, a creature named Jasmine deceived Kevin, a resident of the colony house, into opening the window. Following this, the entire horde attacked the mansion, resulting in the brutal slaughter of around fourteen people. The survivors were left mentally shattered and lost all hope of ever returning to their homes.

On that tragic night, Father Khatri died in Boyd’s arms after being attacked by one of these monsters. Father Khatri had previously trapped Sara in the basement of his makeshift church, not wanting to harm her because she was the only person who could communicate with these creatures.

He believed that through her, they might get answers about the mysterious domain and the monsters that inhabit it. After Father Khatri’s death, Boyd discovered that he had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease, a condition his father had also battled.

This revelation prompted Boyd to risk his life and venture into the forest with Sara to fulfill Father Khatri’s last wish. Boyd had often ventured into the woods, the home of these creatures, with a burning desire to find answers.

However, during his absence, his wife Abby lost her sanity and began shooting at people. When Abby pointed a gun at their son, Ellis, Boyd shot her to protect him.

Ellis never forgave his father for leaving his mother in her time of need, while Boyd, devastated, shifted his focus from his search for answers to protecting the people in the town and helping them adjust to their grim new reality.

Boyd’s New Mission and the Storm of Tragedy

The attack on the colony house acted as an eye-opener for Boyd, prompting him to go on a journey into the forest with Sara to seek the answers that everyone had been desperately searching for.

Meanwhile, Jim and Jade worked together to construct a transmission tower on the colony house’s terrace, hoping to make contact with the outside world. Unfortunately, their attempts were met with failure.

As a storm approached, Jim heard a voice on the radio – a voice belonging to one of the monsters – which warned him to stop his wife from digging in the basement of their house. As Tabitha continued digging, the ground beneath her cracked open, revealing a hidden tunnel.

When she regained consciousness, she realized that the wireless cord was not connected to anything, proving that the electricity in the house was being controlled by an unseen force or frequency. In the tunnel, she encountered Victor, who revealed that the boy in white had foretold her arrival.

Victor explained that these tunnels or caves were where the monsters hid during the day, away from the sun. Inside the cave, Tabitha saw strange symbols and mystical drawings that offered little insight, except for images of crows, trees, and killings.

Perhaps in the next season, this tunnel will play a critical role in uncovering the origins of these creatures.

The Search for Answers and the Radio’s Importance

Meanwhile, Boyd and Sara, who had spent the night in the forest, witnessed a mysterious bright light and were soon attacked by someone. However, the talisman shielded them from harm. The following morning, they found themselves in a forest thick with spider webs.

As they continued their journey, Boyd experienced visions of his deceased wife, Abby, entangled in a web. When Boyd tried to rescue her, a swarm of spiders attacked him, and one of them bit him. This mystical encounter left Boyd not only disillusioned but also physically weakened by spider venom.

Sara encouraged Boyd not to lose hope, reminding him that they were close to their goal. They followed the light they had seen the night before and discovered a lighthouse, accompanied by the sound of a horn, possibly from a nearby ship.

However, before they could delve deeper into the mystery, Boyd, weakened by the spider bite, asked Sara to return and inform the others about their findings. Just then, Sara noticed the boy in white standing at a distance, who instructed her to escape the wrath of the creatures using the faraway tree.

Both Boyd and Sara entered the tree’s bark, but the final shot revealed Boyd trapped in a confined space, surrounded by thick rock walls, with barely enough room to stand.

Meanwhile, the radio in the dining room picked up a frequency, signaling the opening of the realm, and a new bus, the Grand Rapids Runner, arrived in town. This suggests that the radio might be able to pick up signals whenever the domain connects to the real world, allowing frequencies to enter their dimension.

Season 1 ended without revealing the fates of Boyd, Sara, Tabitha, and Victor, who had been separated from their families and loved ones. Boyd, trapped in an enclosed space, might die there unless someone rescues him.

As for Sara, no one knows where she might end up, especially considering Victor’s warning that the faraway tree is unpredictable. So far, Victor, Ethan, and Sara are the only ones who have communicated with the boy in white, and it seems likely that the boy will aid them in protecting the living and guiding them back to their homes.

Victor and Tabitha may also uncover vital information about the monsters terrorizing the land, but first, they must protect themselves from their attacks. Their discoveries may reveal if these monsters are sensitive to sunlight, which could explain why they seek shelter in the dark tunnels during the day.

The upcoming season of From promises to uncover more about this enigmatic world, offering revelations about the origins of the nocturnal monsters that hunt the living.
