Eddie Reynolds (played by Charlie Goodard) finds his life taking a new direction when he accepts an invitation to appear on a reality TV show titled Love On The Rocks. He’s thrilled by the opportunity, but it soon becomes clear that being part of the show will come at a steep personal cost.
This breakdown of Look To The Light revisits the storyline and raises the question: How does Eddie’s journey end? Things kick off with Eddie and his girlfriend Lauren enjoying dinner at a restaurant to mark their anniversary. The couple seems happy, but Lauren grows uneasy after catching Eddie admiring the waitress.

Her concerns deepen when she finds out the waitress passed her number to Eddie. Even though Eddie assures Lauren that their bond is unbreakable, everything changes when he returns home and receives an offer to join the dating reality show Love On The Rocks.
To secure a place on the show, he has to pretend he’s single—something that puts his relationship at risk.
Is Lauren happy about the TV show?
Lauren expresses her displeasure towards the idea of the show because of what it means—Eddie will be mingling with several attractive women. Given the matchmaking nature of the programme, she fears he might end up falling for someone else, even though he insists he loves her.
On the other hand, Eddie’s family is thrilled by the opportunity. They go as far as telling him to break up with Lauren, believing she’s preventing him from chasing fame.
Does Eddie choose the show over Lauren?
At first, Eddie decides to follow the path that could lead to fame by going ahead with the show, even if it means choosing it over Lauren. When she confides in him that she’s pregnant, he encourages her to terminate the pregnancy, convinced that having a child would stand in the way of his dreams.
She follows through with the abortion but doesn’t mention it to Eddie or anyone in her family. Eventually, she leaves him, but it doesn’t take long before Eddie begins trying to reconnect with her. Eddie turns up at Lauren’s place one night, and she assumes he has come because he heard about the abortion.
Although he appears disturbed, it turns out he is upset for another reason: he’s been removed from Love On The Rocks after the producers found out about a drug conviction from his past.
Do Lauren and Eddie get back together?
They briefly start seeing each other again, but things fall apart when Lauren and one of her colleagues spot Eddie in a bar with another woman. The woman is the same waitress who had given him her number earlier in the story.
This betrayal pushes Lauren to end things once more, and this time it seems permanent. Eddie sinks into a deep state of depression afterward. Some time later, the story skips forward to Eddie’s 21st birthday. His parents surprise him with a new car, which he reacts to with confusion.
That reaction makes more sense later on, once a past incident involving a car comes to light. A producer from Love On The Rocks reaches out again, offering him a second chance to be on the show. But Eddie turns it down, choosing instead to protect any possibility of rebuilding his relationship with Lauren.
Not long after, Eddie hits rock bottom and heads to a railway bridge, ready to end his life. But just as he’s thinking about jumping, Lauren appears and convinces him not to go through with it. They began spending time together again from that point.
Things appear to be improving between them, and it seems they might have rekindled their relationship—until the story takes an unexpected turn.
What’s the twist?
The twist comes when Lauren’s colleague receives a visit from the police. Through their conversation, we get a fuller picture of Eddie’s troubling behaviour. After Lauren ended things with him, he reportedly made frequent, unwanted phone calls to her workplace in an attempt to win her back.

One evening, Eddie turned up at a work event where Lauren was present. After charming her for a bit, he offered to drive her home. Sadly, she never made it. Eddie was drunk and ended up crashing the car, which led to Lauren’s death.
The earlier moment where Eddie looked surprised about receiving a new car from his parents now makes sense—it connects directly to the accident that killed Lauren.
And viewers are left shocked to realise that the warm scenes showing Eddie and Lauren spending time together after the suicide attempt never actually happened. They were products of Eddie’s imagination, most likely caused by deep guilt and emotional trauma.
Towards the film’s conclusion, Eddie returns to the same railway bridge where he had earlier considered suicide. This time, it seems he’s serious about going through with it. Just before anything happens, his brother Wes arrives on a bike to stop him.
Wes’s unexpected arrival interrupts Eddie’s attempt. As Eddie stares at his brother, the film draws to a close. The way the film ends leaves room for questions. There’s no clear answer as to whether Eddie chose to end his life or not. His final fate remains unknown.
Based on earlier scenes, it’s possible that he did go through with it. A moment showing his parents visiting Lauren’s mother and sister carries a heavy emotional weight. The tension is clear, but what stands out most is the grief shared by both families.
Eddie’s parents are seen crying intensely, which may suggest they are mourning his loss as well. Although this particular scene appears before Eddie’s final visit to the bridge, the film may play with time, showing a moment that happened afterward.
The flashback and flash-forward structure adds some confusion, but the guilt Eddie carries over Lauren’s death might have pushed him to take his own life.
