Knokke Off High Tides Season 1 Ending Explained: Betrayals, Confessions, and a Final Gunshot Tear the Family Apart

Louise’s summer ends with a phone wiped clean of love.

The concluding episode of High Tides opens with Louise’s mum deleting Daan’s number and all their chats from her daughter’s phone, trying to erase every trace of him. Meanwhile, Daan breaks into the bar only to find Jacques unconscious on the floor.

He immediately starts CPR, trying hard to bring him back, but his efforts don’t yield anything—Jacques has already passed on. The weight of everything he has experienced overwhelms Daan. In his despair, he sends a message to Alex, informing him of Jacques’ death and how Patrick would be thrilled about the news.

What does Alex do when he wakes up?

Alex wakes up and notices the gun still in his grip. When he receives the news about Jacques, he’s visibly shaken. He rushes to the bar just as paramedics are wheeling out Jacques’ lifeless body under a white sheet.

Daan, boiling with anger, confronts Alex and accuses him of benefiting too conveniently from Jacques’ death since it automatically gives him full control of the club. During their exchange, Alex brings up Claudia’s issue and, in frustration, shoves Daan to the ground.

He tells him to go back home and that the summer is done. Just to humiliate him further, he even spits on him. Daan, with blood coming from his nose, clenches his jaw and glares at him as Alex walks away.

What happens between Eleonore and Melissa?

Eleonore visits Melissa, Daan’s mum, and comes clean about what she has been hiding. She reveals that Patrick was the one who killed Claudia. Although she refuses to involve the police, she shares that she has someone who can get Patrick to confess.

This friend might help bring some truth and allow them to get some peace finally. She adds that she only needs a bit of time. At the gallery, old memories start to resurface, especially now that Christine has received a video proving her affair with Patrick. When Margaux comes by, she questions why Eleonore is present.

As soon as she hints at the affair, Christine grabs her mouth and scolds her for being disrespectful before pulling her away.  Word about Jacques’ death eventually gets to Louise and others at the party.

Alex arrives soon after, his lip split from the earlier encounter, drawing attention from his mother, who urges him to clean up. He brushes her and Melissa off coldly, replying that he’s “great,” without any care in his tone.

Daan heads home full of rage and vents to Anouk about everything that’s happened. He’s frantic about finding his phone, not listening to Anouk’s appeals for him to calm down. When she brings up how Louise has been selfish and uncaring, Daan decides to go see her directly.

What happens at the party?

At the party venue, Christine and Margaux are forced to mingle while waiting for Patrick’s arrival. Meanwhile, Eleonore is getting ready to expose everything. Louise, stepping away, finds Alex upstairs. He tells her he’s bought tickets for both of them to move to Uruguay and wants her to come along.

Louise declines, even though she had earlier said she chose him. Things spiral out of control when Alex tries to force himself on her. She fights him off and lashes out, calling him as pathetic as his father. Filled with frustration and sadness, Alex is left alone to brood.

He grabs the gun from the cabinet and starts thinking back on his father’s abuse, unsure of what he should do next.

How does Alex get his revenge?

When Patrick finally arrives at the party, he has no clue what will hit him. Alex takes matters into his own hands and shares the video of Patrick and Christine with everyone at the gathering. Meanwhile, Daan reaches the venue and Louise leaves with him.

Even though her mum begs her to take her medication, Louise still chooses to go. Right after this, Christine angrily slaps Eleonore, calling her a coward before storming off. Alex, now in full view of everyone, raises a toast to family and love before calling Patrick a worthless and abusive man.

Patrick chases Olivia upstairs, but she’s in shock after watching the video and locks herself inside the bedroom. The damage across the family is complete, and Olivia can barely breathe from the panic. When she refuses to open the door, Patrick goes after Melissa instead, grabbing her by the throat.

At that point, the full truth comes out: Patrick didn’t kill Claudia. During an argument on the balcony, Alex had stepped in and pushed her by mistake, sending her over the edge. Eleonore witnessed the whole thing and decided to pin it on Patrick.

With that revelation, Olivia comes out holding a gun. She aims it at Patrick and pulls the trigger, shooting him in the head. As all this chaos unravels, Daan and Louise stand together outside as the sun sets. They remain silent, gazing at each other, until Louise speaks through her tears.

“I’m sorry,” she says, before turning to leave. She has chosen to walk away from it all, proving that Anouk was right about where her loyalties lie.

The Episode Review

This outcome has been building up for quite some time, and now, everything boils over as betrayal, revenge, and consequences come together in one intense moment. Olivia shooting Patrick is both unexpected and, in a way, feels like justice—she becomes the one person who tries to break the cycle of abuse.

What comes next remains uncertain, and the abrupt ending leaves many questions. Although the series tends to rely heavily on predictable drama and drawn-out situations, this finale gives some emotional resolution.

The last few minutes especially stand out, delivering some of the most intense moments in the entire series. Still, High Tides concludes much like it began—with a wave of dramatic turns and a collection of overly familiar storylines and themes.
